Diálogo Intergeneracional: estereotipos y realidades sobre los millennials

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo caracterizar la generación millennial a través de la recopilación y análisis de información proveniente de investigaciones publicadas en revistas de impacto, contrastando estas con las representaciones sociales estereotipadas. Se reconoce que los millennials son una generación nacida entre 1982 y 2004 y se destacan por ser la primera en crecer en un mundo digital, además de tener una mayor proporción de mujeres en la universidad y ser más propensos a vivir solos. A pesar de ser una generación optimista y diversa, los millennials han enfrentado desafíos económicos, como la Gran Recesión, y tienen menos ingresos y perspectivas de jubilación que otras generaciones. Están interesados en empleos con propósitos sociales y éticos, valoran la innovación y el empoderamiento individual en el lugar de trabajo y tienen una percepción negativa de las organizaciones tradicionales. Los millennials también son preocupados por su salud y adoptan estilos de vida saludables, incluyendo el consumo de productos orgánicos y la práctica regular de ejercicios físicos. La educación es importante para ellos, pero hay diferencias significativas en el acceso a la misma entre países en vías de desarrollo y países desarrollados. Los millennials son nativos digitales y las competencias digitales son clave en su mundo. Disfrutan del boca a boca y de videojuegos y contenido en línea, y el turismo digital libre es popular entre los turistas de esta generación. En resumen, los millennials son una generación con características y valores específicos, que han influenciado tanto el mundo laboral como el social y cultural.
